6th GLOBAL FORUM OF THE UNITED NATIONS ALLIANCE OF CIVILIZATIONS IN BALI, INDONESIA

Indonesia hosted the 6th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) in Bali on 28-30 August 2014. Joseph Camilleri addressed Plenary Session 2 (30 August): "Knowing One Another – Urgent Need to Foster Dialogue and Understanding between Eastern and Western Civilizations".

Bearing the theme, “Unity in Diversity: Celebrating Diversity for Common and Shared Values”, the Forum focused on strategic yet practical measures to generate and sustain common values and a shared sense of responsibility among all stakeholders, partners and constituencies toward the realization of the mandate and objectives of the Alliance.

The Bali forum brough together over 1300 participatns, including the UN Secretary-Gneral Ban Ki-moon, political  leaders, representatives of international and regional bodies, the private sector, civil society groups, youth, the arts, and the media as well as donor agencies and foundations, to vigorously foster cross-cultural dialogue and understanding.

Of particular interest is the keynote address given by Prof. Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, President of The Republic of Indonesia on the 29th of August. His address can be viewed here.
